the Makerie

What is included in the retreat?

All meals, workshops, self-care sessions, evening events, and most materials are covered. Lodging is a separate expense, but we have put together a special rate for retreat guests who choose to stay in the beautiful, historic private cottages on the Chautauqua grounds. Connect with each other on our private Facebook page to find attendess to share your cottage. If you make use of the sleeper sofas in the cabins and/or feel comfortable sharing a bed, we’re confident you’ll find the right price for your lodging!

What is the closest airport?

Denver International Airport is the closest MAJOR airport to Boulder. It is about 45 miles away. There are many shuttle companies as well as the public bus that can get you to Boulder.

What about the altitude?

The historic Chautauqua sits at an elevation of 5,600 feet. It’s not crazy high in the mountains, but enough to cause discomfort for some people. If you live at sea level, it’s a good idea to drink lots of water and boost the potassium in your diet in the days leading up to the retreat! Aspirin can also help with altitude discomfort.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We will be offering many different meal options and would love to accommodate any specific dietary needs; when you register, you’ll have a chance to tell us what you do and don’t eat so we can make sure you get delicious and nourishing food all weekend long!

We are happy to work with you on a payment plan so please email for details.

There will be no refunds after August 1, 2017. No exceptions. We will accept refund requests in writing before the stated refund date and a $150 administration fee will be incurred plus any Eventbrite fees. Transfers are acceptable, but we must be notified in writing of any changes and retreat fee transfers must be done directly between the parties.

Who are the Teachers?

We find world renown teachers in their craft to bring you their passion and skills. Our teachers have taught before and are very comfortable with all levels of students. They bring all supplies that are needed for you to be comfortable and properly learn the craft they teach. In many instances you will not only learn a new skill, but you will make a new friend.

We'd love to answer them! Email us at or give us a call so you can talk to a live person. 303.885.3807
