ABOUT

We are thrilled to be bringing the Makerie back home to its roots for a three-day creative retreat nestled at the base of the majestic Flatiron Mountains of Boulder, Colorado. Take time to slow down, nourish your creativity, connect with nature, and make wonderful things with your hands in this cozy and inspiring hideaway. This retreat offers modern, creative, textile focused workshops taught by renowned artists, locally-sourced healthy and delicious meals, evening programs centered around living a creative life, personal growth and well-being, plus the chance to connect with fellow creatives in an intimate setting. A nurturing escape designed to foster self care and creativity for makers of all kinds.

The retreat format highlighting textiles provides the opportunity to take four different classes (12 hours of outstanding instruction) to experience a wonderful variety of modern projects and techniques taught by sensational teachers from around the country. We can’t wait for you to see the fantastic workshop offerings below. In addition to the creative classes, the well-being aspect of this weekend is of equal importance, providing yoga, hiking, inspirational speakers and an awesome creative community for an all-around soul-filling experience.

This year, we are incredibly excited and honored to have author and entrepreneur Beth Kempton, founder of Do What You Love and author of soon-to-be released Freedom Seeker, as our opening night speaker. In this inspiring evening session, Beth will take you on a journey of discovery to unlock your creative freedom. Through moving personal stories, refreshing honesty and thought-provoking questions, Beth will open your mind, stir your heart and set your creative spirit free.

In this increasingly fast-paced world and the unprecedented amount of information we’re all trying to process, our retreat provides the time and space to slow down and use the magic of your own hands. You will find a true connection with yourself, allowing for a different connection with those around you and this amazing world we live in. Giving yourself the gift of play is a treasure and we invite you to join us for a beautiful ride.

VENUE

The Colorado Chautauqua, nestled at the base of the Flatiron Mountains in Boulder, Colorado, is a National Historic Landmark complete with abundant hiking trails, cozy cottages, contemplative spaces, community gathering areas, and a beautifully renovated dining hall.

The Chautauqua mission is to cultivate experiences based on lifelong learning, love of nature, voluntary simplicity, and the arts ~ perfectly aligned with the Makerie’s mission too. It’s hard to capture the beauty of Chautauqua with only words so you’ll just have to come see for yourself what a truly magical place it is.

EATS

Our meals will served by the Chautauqua Dining Hall, run by Three Leafs Concepts. Their commitment to fresh, locally produced and organic ingredients led them to create their own farm, Three Leaf Farm in Lafayette. CO, where 100% of their harvest goes to their restaurants and extensive catering services. Their chefs work directly with their farmers to plan the wide variety of vegetables, fruits and herbs they grow and use in their creative seasonal menus. Mealtimes will range from family style gatherings to gourmet boxed lunches served picnic style and we can certainly accommodate special dietary needs.

ACCOMODATION

You have the wonderful opportunity to stay in one of Chautauqua’s cozy cottages, each with a unique history and charm. Greeted by meadows and mountains outside your front door, the cottages range in size from efficiency, one, two and three bedrooms, and have a fully equipped kitchen and screened-in front porch. Sleeping arrangements range from queen or single beds to the option of a pull-out couch if friends want to bunk up and save on lodging costs. There is also an option to book single rooms in the Missions Lodge.

CLICK HERE for details to book your cozy cottage lodging.

**Please note that cottage reservations MUST BE MADE BY DECEMBER 1, 2016,
the date the cottages are being held through for Makerie attendees**.
